The intention of this blog is simple: to analyse writing. While encompassing the principle mediums of fiction writing, screenplays and lyrics, the blog will focus specifically upon authorial craft.
Essentially, articles will analyse the defining characteristics within a writer’s oeuvre, from the portrayal of characters to a pervading or recurrent theme of an author’s work, from prose to prosody.
In regards to shorter essays, with the document’s word count not exceeding 5,000 words, either a single work will be discussed in isolation from the writer’s previous or subsequent publications, or a ‘Character Study’, detailing the nature of a selected work’s protagonist, will form the basis of an article. Further to this, longer releases will analyse a work in more detail, expanding the word-count parameter of the ‘shorter’ reads by considering external works beyond the pages of a single text, identifying overlapping or contrasting aspects within a writer’s body of work.
